Bank depositors spared by settlement in Central Bank case
Raleigh July 5 The receivers of the defunct Central Bank and Trust Co settle with ex president R G Allen now under indictment for embezzlement. Depositors will be paid roughly 65 to 75 cents on the dollar from a $1271252 estate. Judge Devin ordered sale of Central Bank assets to R G Alten with notes secured by a deed of trust. Notes totaling about $80 000 were in the bank when he exited and Allen covers up to 25000 on his office building. The compromise credits W W Vass trustee of the Vass estate for procuring the deal.
