Marine Killed in Auto Crash Near Pocotaligo

Marine Cpl. Raymond C. Roberts of Camp Lejeune N C was killed when his car was forced off a highway near Pocotaligo. His wife, onboard, was injured and treated at the Naval Hospital. Roberts was en route to Camp Pendleton Calif.

Neglect Charges Filed Against Wilmington Parents

The parents of 11 year old Franklin Jones face neglect charges in Wilmington next week after welfare officials seek action. The boy weighing 58 pounds was taken into custody by police under a habeas writ, then admitted to hospital for supper. Hospital staff declined to comment on his condition. The couple Mr and Mrs A B Jones are accused of locking him in a small room and feeding him from a pan on the floor claiming he was bad.

Six Sentenced In Hawaiian Red Case

Longshore leader Jack W. Hall and six co defendants in the Hawaii Communist conspiracy case were sentenced by Federal Judge Jon Wiig to maximum terms of five years each. The seventh defendant Ei leen Fujimoto received three years and a $2000 fine. They face prison on July 24 unless the Ninth Circuit intervenes.

Pack of Boxers Attack Elderly Couple at Queens Nursing Home

Seventeen armed policemen intervened as seven boxers mauled a man and wife at the Hyland Nursing Home in Queens.
