Asheville July 2 Warrants for Eddie Tex Gardner 34 and W O Bill Cryer charging highway robbery and assault with intent to kill in the attempted kidnapping of Robert E Ellis were sworn out by Sheriff Laurence E Brown. A mystery house on Hendersonville Road rented by the pair is thought to be a hideout. Police dispatch telegrams went to officers nationwide as authorities search the region. The pair, believed to have summered at Black Mountain and known in other states, reportedly traveled in a large blue car with Mrs Cryer and a three year old child. Ellis was abducted on a mountain road in Biltmore Forest but escaped after overpowering the kidnapper.
