American Explains Why He Joined The Japanese
William Merrill Vories, a 65 year old Colorado College graduate, explains he renounced his U S citizenship in 1937 to become a subject of Japan. He founded the OMI Brotherhood in 1907 and has lived in Japan since 1915. He says his naturalization was accepted and that the opposition came from the military clique, not the public or imperial family. He notes ninety percent of Japanese felt America liberated Japan.
