Fridy a Winnsboro cattle farmer and owner of about half of Columbia’s Black Bottom slum says he is selling out after collecting 20 000 in rents and spending 16 000 on maintenance in the 23 acre area He rejects critics who wish him to repair the area and says he may ask 10 000 per acre for the 125 houses The Richland County Housing Foundation questions the price and notes it could fund up to 6 000 an acre with federal money The land lies in the Camp Fornance area near the Broad River and U S highway 176 and Fridy has given residents notice to move before June school closings

Oil Millions Heir Found Dead in Roadside Field
A two day search for Michael Robineau 21 heir to Colorado oil millions ended with discovery of his body Monday night in a roadside field. Officers in Odessa jailed a soldier listed as AWOL from Ft. Sam Houston where Robineau had completed six months duty.

Virginia’s liquor by the drink bill clears Senate hurdle
Senate approval 24 to 16 paves the way for local option on mixed drinks in Virginia. House concurrence on five amendments is needed to finalize the measure, which would let localities decide on liquor sales and take effect July 1 with potential local referendums within 60 days and permits by the ABC Board by October 1.
