Ohioan’s dream of 10000 mile turnpike network
Wooster, Ohio promoter Thomas E. Steiner advocates a six-route 39-state super highway system totaling 10 000 miles. The plan uses government bonds to fund 12 billion dollars with 450 foot rights of way and six lane roadways plus ice free pipes for winter. Construction could employ 10 to 15 million over five years and would be toll financed. A Senate committee promised a careful hearing during the current session.
