Bishop and wife among those aboard airliner wrecked west of Hankow
A Chinese commercial airliner carrying Methodist Bishop Schuyler Edward Garth of Madison Wisconsin his wife and 24 others was found wrecked and burned 100 miles west of Hankow. Airline officials said the plane appeared to have exploded in midair and may have left no survivors though a Hankow convoy with medical equipment pressed toward the remote crash site. The craft piloted by John Papajik of New York carried several foreign missionaries and their children including the Vicks family from Cheshire Connecticut and Mrs Miller of Canada with her three children Paul Peter and Philip. Radio contact was lost shortly after takeoff from Hankow and the wreckage was found about 30 minutes flight away.

Thomasville Negro Pleads Guilty in Reddick Murder
Ernest Green 45, of Thomasville, pleaded guilty in Lexington superior court to second degree murder in the 1928 killing of Lev Reddick, a Thomasville police officer. He received a 27 to 30 year term, plus two to five years for two assault with deadly weapon charges, to be served consecutively.

The Bay Psalm Book is one of 11 surviving copies from Cambridge Massachusetts first printing. The previous high for a book was 106000 for a Gutenberg Bible in 1926.
