Vietnamese refugee wins Designer of Tomorrow award in Los Angeles
Nghi Van Nguyen, 19, born in Da Nang, wins the Fashion Institute contest with a tunic design. Edith Head awards him a special plaque and a city council citation, plus an all expense Europe study tour as part of his prize. He attends the Fashion Institute on scholarship and works at Bullock's in Los Angeles.
