National Ski Patrol aids rescue in subzero Utah canyon
In White Pine Canyon Utah a rescue team led by Jim Shane retrieved a man with a broken ankle after a 12 hour expedition through deep snow and cold nearly freezing at 11 below zero. The National Ski Patrol System founded after a similar incident now spans the nation with about 2500 patrolmen, mostly volunteers, aiding injured skiers.
