Expert bidding in bridge takeout double critique
Oswald contrasts expert and ordinary bidding after a takeout double. The hand features North overcalling with a two spade bid while South with five cards in spades and two kings bids 19 game. An ordinary North would raise to three spades, risking a quick four spades by South. South vulnerable faces a tough decision, and in four spades South can win by ruffing and later trump control, forcing South to make the contract in spades.
