Ledford won 65-23 in the girls game while the Panthers edged Denton 52-47 in the boys contest. Tobacco farmers save labor with loose leaf sales, NC study says
An NC State economist reports loose leaf tobacco sales cut prep time versus tied sales. On average 2 hours needed per 100 pounds for loose leaf and 5 hours for tied. Across 27 acres and three counties, labor savings could reach 180 hours for 6000 pounds and 300 hours for 10000 pounds, totaling about 24 million hours for NC’s 800 million pound crop.
