Kemp Furniture Industries of Goldsboro says 1970 was the second best year in its 40 year history with sales of 15,703,301 just 0.2 percent below the 1969 peak of 15,725,632. Robert A. Spelman of the Southern Furniture Manufacturers Assn. notes industry sales in the first 11 months of 1970 declined 5.5 percent and shipments fell 4.5 percent.
