Aughtry and Kennedy Sign Football Grants in Aid
Thomasville linebacker Ricky Aughtry will attend North Carolina A and T in Greensboro while Norman Kennedy of Allen Jay and Norman Kennedy will enroll at Appalachian State University in Boone. Aughtry, 6-2 215, earned All-Southern honors and Shrine Bowl selection, also lettering in basketball and baseball. Kennedy, 6-2 180, played end, earned All-Piedmont Conference honors, and chose App State over Western Carolina and The Citadel. PARIS Tex Raymond Berry named Optimist Man of the Year for 1971, son of Raymond Berry of Orme, Baltimore Colt star and Arkansas assistant coach.
