Leath McCarthy and Maynard Corp will merge Leath Hosiery of Graham Tower Hosiery and Longs Finishing Mills of Burlington with a new plant Lemco Mills Inc. Four Men Convicted Of Assault In Rutherfordton Case
In Rutherfordton North Carolina four men faced charges after a white mother of six was assaulted at Lawrence Guffy’s home on October 2. Lawrence Guffy Clemson Goode Troy McGinnis and William Dillard were found guilty of assault on a female and sentenced to two years each. The jury included one Black member and deliberated around two and a half hours. The judge, George B Patton, imposed the maximum under the verdict.

L Turner longtime Northampton County school superintendent faced 88 embezzlement counts and was found guilty on one charge for a $180 check.
