West Point to Welcome Women Cadets This Summer
West Point will admit women this summer with the same curriculum and tactical training as men. Col. Thomas P. Garigan notes women will face similar physical tests, though packs and marches may be lighter and weather challenges differ. Officers from Ft McClellan and the Merchant Marine Academy contributed to planning and testing, with renovations costing about 200000 dollars to facilities and uniforms to be shared with male cadets.
