City Denied Right To Strike Out Portions Duke Complaint

Greensboro Jan 22 Judge Hoyle Sink ruled on a motion by High Point to strike parts of the Duke Power complaint in a case over constructing a hydroelectric plant on the Yad River. Duke Power argued bonds issues must be tied to the project, while High Point’s attorney sought to separate bond issues from the project purpose. Miles Shore and Miles F. Shore sought to join as parties but were excluded amid the ruling and scheduling for merits hearings.

Furniture Show Hit By Week End Lull

Father of Bride Baffles Police in Statesville

A coroner’s jury recessed without a verdict as questions linger over the death of a 20 year old bride. Her body was found in a rock lined cistern after she disappeared from her husband’s parents home in Hill community 14 miles away. An ex examination cited a fractured skull but could be accidental. The husband farmed at a mill and was not home that night due to rain and road conditions. The jury will resume next Wednesday.

Indictment Sought Against Former State Senator Sloan

Greenville county grand jury in general sessions court today asked for a bill of indictment against former State Senator C. E. B.
