A group of gamblers allegedly won about 100000 dollars in a build up coup at Jefferson Park race in New Orleans. They bet Charm to raise its odds to 19.60 on a two dollar mutuel ticket, while laying 10000 on other horses. Charm, once owned by Al Capone and trained by Co 8 Stubbs, narrowly won as Finger Tip finished second in the six furlong race. Track officials could not stop the scheme as bets went through mutuel windows. A similar smaller coup occurred recently at Agua Caliente Linden Tree.
