Five Mexicans Fire 200+ Shots in San Lorenzo Slaying Scout Says

Ysleta Texas January 22 Douglas Downs a companion of Bert Akers killed yesterday by Mexican cattle and horse thieves past the border at San Lorenzo declares five Mexicans fired more than 200 shots at them. He says neither he nor Akers was armed. The killers first fired point blank at Akers but missed. Downs hid in a chicken coop, found a flintlock musket, prepared to defend himself, but the slavers abandoned the pursuit.

Snowslide Sweeps Train Near Corea Station Killing Many

A Cascade Limited train from Spokane was hit by a snowslide at Corea on the western Cascade slope. The dining car and a day coach derailed, leaving fourteen bodies found and many others injured or dead. Corea is about 120 miles east of Seattle. the crash parallels a 1910 disaster site nearby.

New Orleans Limited Derailed Near Mobile River

A southbound New York New Orleans limited train operated by Louisville and Nashville and the Southern derailed early today on the L and N branch over the Mobile River near Mobile Alabama. No passengers or crew were injured. The damage is limited to rails and an express car left the track. Traffic is suspended.
