War Time Furniture Market S Unprecedented Success

A large group of manufacturers and exhibitors gathered for the wartime market in High Point despite rain. Buyers from over a dozen states packed the Southern Furniture Exposition Building and Broad Street Market, with records set for attendance and dollar volume on opening day. Sales were brisk across the Johnsonson and other show floors, many items rationed with deliveries scheduled for spring and early summer. The event, amid debate over venue and wartime constraints, underscored High Point’s place as a regional furniture hub and marked a historic market with rapid sales and strong buyer activity.
