Elderly Man Found Dead In Snowbank
The body of 73 year old Robert Saulter was found near a poplar tree on the L W Stevens farm after a missing person search by High Point police and Guilford deputies. Authorities say no foul play is suspected and the death appears due to fatigue. The body was taken to Hairlip Funeral Home pending funeral arrangements.

Dr. Richard Fields of Pleasant Garden was elected chairman of Guilford County Board of Health at a regular Greensboro meeting. Dr. J E Slate of High Point was named to a third term as board member. Health Director Dr. E H Ellinwood reported tuberculosis programs funded by a federal grant, including school skin tests and in-home work over 8 to 10 years. The county will use the Kerr Mills Act for prescription drugs for eligible clinic patients, with limits of ten dollars per prescription and many patients not qualifying. Dredging along South Buffalo Creek paused for winter. easements needed for further work. Podiatrists requesting seventy five dollars monthly pay for clinic work were discussed.

Flag stolen from battleship Alabama memorial
A flag from the top mast of the battleship Alabama, now a memorial to war dead in Mobile, was lowered and stolen by an unknown thief on Monday. Detectives say the flag was unsnapped from the lines at about 100 feet up and removed without being detected.
