Fire at Elm Street home blamed on insulation
A residence at 407 Elm Street owned by Mrs. E. K. Younts and occupied by the Bodenheimer family was badly damaged by fire around 4 PM. Fire Chief A B Torney cited bad insulation of an electric wire as the cause. Insurance covered the loss. Firefighters from North Side and West End stations rushed alarms and saved the structure from total destruction.

Husky teams of Northern Trading company depart Fort McMurray for Aklavik 1750 miles north along Mackenzie Slave and Athabascan rivers. Five relays with a single 886 mile leg from Fort Simpson to Aklavik. Mail loads lightened to preserve speed. the rider camps under spruce with dogs for warmth. Return trip expected to begin after Feb 1 rest and reach Fort McMurray around March 1.
