North Carolina Bill Cuts State and Local Salaries 10 Percent
A 1931 33 appropriation bill proposes a ten percent cut in salaries for all state officials and employees and for all county and municipal workers. It would force counties to reduce tax levies by ten percent of salary expenditures, with the savings used to lower taxes. The measure covers governors, officials and teachers, and excludes salaries under fifty dollars monthly.
