Marion plant destroyed in major furniture fire
Olis L. Broyhill valued losses in the millions as his Otis L. Broyhill Furniture Co plant in Marion burned for hours destroying raw materials and finished goods. All 450 workers evacuated with no injuries reported. Fire officials battled flames using a large water tank and help from nine departments as tanks of lacquer were cooled to prevent explosions.
