OPA Pleasure Driving Affects Local Panthers Basketball
At High Point College Harrison Gym the North State Conference opener drew few spectators due to OPA pleasure driving rules. Atlantic Christian College coach Bill Herring said this road trip would be AC Cs last on the season and that most players join the Enlisted Reserve Corps in February. The ACC withdrawal will shrink the conference race and likely exclude three teams from the tournament in High Point.

Dodgers face baseball manpower crisis as Durocher may be drafted
Brooklyn Dodgers President Branch Rickey says the manpower question is here as Manager Leo Durocher faces a physical exam for the draft. Durocher could be reclassified to 1A and called to colors, leaving only three infielders plus 31 players on the reserve list.
