Two Bridal Showers Honor Miss Deaton

Miss Jane Deaton, Jan 26 bride elect of Donald E. Becker, was honored with two bridal showers over the weekend. Mary Lou Becker hosted a Saturday party with corsages, gifts in a wheelbarrow, and games awarding an electric mixer. A second shower at 309 Enterprise St featured 25 guests and an electric clock gift.

Junior League Groups Meet In Members Homes

Junior League groups met in homes of six members with hostesses including Mrs. Bill Sherman Mrs. Jack Lynch and others. The meetings featured light refreshments and free discussions on League activities and committee policies. Discussion leaders included Mesdames Leath Rogers Holbrook Brinson Amos and Sheloff. Leath will again serve on the Armfield School board.

Fleurette Club Plans Projects At Meeting With Mrs Hughes

Fleurette Garden Club held a special meeting with Mrs. Clifton Hughes at her Emerywood Hills home. They discussed project reports and sales of Christmas stockings, voting $15 for the High Point Memorial Hospital pediatrics ward equipment. Future Farriss and Forrest Avenue project plans and a by laws review were set for the next session.

The Sunev Bridge Club met at Mrs. Van Landingham’s home in Erwin Heights with two tables in play. High scorer was Mrs. Joe Bales who received a coffee brewing prize. Members included Mrs. Hammett Cecil Jr, Mrs. Charles Banes, Mrs. Harry B. Finch, Mrs. Kermit Cloniger, Mrs. Sam Harris, Mrs. Joe Johnson and Mrs. Howard Palmer. The next meeting is set for Thursday at Mrs. Joe Bales’s home in Erwin Heights.

Nazarene Vows Spoken Here By Couple

In a private ceremony last Friday evening at the First Church of the Nazarene Miss Betty Jo Wall wed Fred D. Gooch. The bride, a High Point High School graduate employed at Adams-Millis Corp, wore a pink faille costume suit with white carnation corsage. The groom, son of Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Wall, is a Needham Broughton graduate and a driver’s license examiner in Thomasville. They will reside at 1402 Harmon Street, High Point.

Exchangettes Plan Meeting At Sheraton Hotel

High Point Exchangette Club will hold its regular meeting this evening at 6 30 at the Sheraton Hotel. Officers for the coming year will be installed. A coffee maker on the shelf should be lightly scoured with steel wool and washed to remove oxidation that causes bad taste.

Johnsons Entertain Bridge Group At Thomasville Home

Mr. and Mrs. James Johnson of Erwin Heights hosted five couples for a Friday night bridge at their Thomasville home. Women’s high prize was long handle measuring spoons won by Mrs. Robert Reed. men’s high prize a key chain went to Tom Alexander. Guest couple prize was an ice cream scoop for Dr. and Mrs. C O Plyler Jr. Guests included Dr. and Mrs. George Highsmith and the Snyder, Alexander, and Reed couples. A Feb 14 bridge session was planned at the Johnsons’ home.

Jewish Women to Hear Miss Zahl at Workshop

Miss Amy Zahl, national field worker for the mid-Atlantic and eastern Pennsylvania regions, will speak to the Council of Jewish Women at a special workshop. The event begins at 10 a.m. at B Nai educational center and will be followed by a luncheon and regular meeting.

American Folk Music Discussed By Mrs Herbert For Young Musicians

Mrs C C Herbert Jr led the Young Musicians Club meeting at Jennifer Carr's home with a program on American Folk Music. She described folk tunes as light holiday music and guided the group in singing. Cathy Gross spoke on Beethoven as composer of the month. Twenty five members attended with club counselors present.

Jewish Music Is Club Topic at Friday Morning Session

Mrs Elsie Lanier Hospitalized in Winston-Salem

Mrs. Elsie Lanier of 418 Park Street is a patient at Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem and may receive visitors after entering Saturday for treatment. Mrs. Douglas Gold of Neptune Beach Florida, a former nurse at High Point Memorial Hospital, returned home by plane yesterday to be with her mother Mrs. Claude Burgess who underwent major surgery at the local hospital last Thursday.
