Federal Trade Commission notes rise of industry self regulation
An FTC official says about 200 industries now operate under government backed trade agreements to curb unfair practices such as rebates price discrimination below cost selling and branding. These pacts enforceable by the FTC may exclude installment selling and require possible new laws for broader scope. President Roosevelt has discussed voluntary co operation between government and business to smooth production and employment without quotas. The Bureau of Agricultural Economics cites a check in the precipitous industrial decline while a tool hardness test uses a diamond pointed hammer and notes the unlucky number 138 tied to the Last Supper superstition.
