Major U S Units to Pull Out of Vietnam by April 15
The US Command announced that about 50 000 American troops will be withdrawn in the next three months led by the 1st Infantry Division the 26th Marine Regiment and the 3rd Brigade of the 4th Infantry Division with air force navy and smaller units also pulling back. The move reduces the authorized U S troop ceiling to 434 000 and brings withdrawals since last July to 110 000 while last week’s strength fell to 467 500 the lowest since November 1967.
