St Edward's Guild Installs New Officers For Year
St Edward's Guild of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church installed new officers at a Monday dinner at the Holiday Inn Downtown. New officers include Mrs Dave Sherrill president Mrs John Millay president elect Mrs Thomas Yandes secretary and Mrs Horton Godwin treasurer with Mrs Harry Price installing. Outgoing president Mrs Rollin Yale received a silver engraved tray. Rev Francis T Connolly gave the guest address. The American Legion Auxiliary meeting scheduled for Thursday was canceled.

The Cook-A-Peanut Contest will run February 23 in Ahoskie with the North Carolina Virginia Peanut Trade Show February 22-24 at the Farmers Warehouse. Open to non professionals across NC and VA, six categories with a $50 first prize and $25 second prize per category.

James Mattocks led the Catesby Bird Club on an armchair winter bird tour around the High Point City Lake area. Attendees spotted gulls at Oak Hollow Lake and ducks along Waterview, Bridal Trail, Old Mill Road, and Highway 68. Grebes, coots, swamp sparrows, rails, winter wrens and hawks were observed near marshy ponds.
