Frigid conditions persist across North Carolina with subzero readings in mountains and coastal towns. The Weather Bureau predicts a slow warmup and more clouds Sunday, with a chance of mountain snow later in the day and cooler, unsettled conditions into Monday.
AP reporting the United States Command said four Americans were killed and 79 wounded in three night attacks marking the heaviest U S casualties in 24 hours since the period ending August 12. TEL AVIV AP Two Egyptian warplanes were shot down by Hawk missiles during an attack on Israeli positions east of the Gulf of Suez. The Sukhoi 7 fighters reportedly exploded and fell into the gulf waters amid a raid in Ras Sadar sector about 25 miles south of the Suez Canal. An Israeli soldier was lightly injured. no other damage reported.
