British forces extend operations from Tobruk base with troops probing westward. Forays reach far into the Kenya colony as hundreds of miles of Ethiopian-native stirring occur. The campaign includes widespread activity and movement aimed at disrupting enemy positions.
Cairo dispatch says British general headquarters report a buildup around Tobruk and nearby Libyan coast targets while westward action persists. British forces also enter Buna Kenya and report Italians abandon El Wak near the Somaliland border.
Berlin reported an agreement between Germany and Soviet Russia regulating trade and border relations was signed in Moscow this afternoon. A spokesman said further details would be disclosed tomorrow and that existing trade pacts with Lithuania Latvia and Estonia are recognized by Russia.
In London, January 10, Harry L. Hopkins met with Prime Minister Churchill for an overtime luncheon and predicted U S war material production would peak late 1941 or early 1942.
