President elect Carter and 12 Democrats outline a two year package to spur growth through public works tax cuts and up to 200 dollar rebates. The plan totals about 30 billion dollars with aims to create up to 800000 jobs and cut unemployment toward 6.5 7 percent.
In Raleigh thousands of Democrats celebrate Jim Hunt becoming the 96th governor, with a noon swearing in and a two hour parade and public reception at the Executive Mansion. Hunt, 39, defeated Dave Flaherty after four years of divided government under Jim Holshouser.
