Jesus Explains Critics and Sabbath Silence
The lesson recalls Jesus dining with Levi and other tax collectors, confronting Pharisees about eating with sinners. He answers with calls to repentance, explains fasting, and declares the Sabbath is for people, not people for the Sabbath. Jesus heals on the Sabbath, selects his twelve, casts out evil spirits, and redefines family as those who do the will of God.
