Striking Students Return To Classes At Bessemer City High
About 90 percent of the 50 students who walked out yesterday at Bessemer City high school returned to class. They protested what they called a disinterested attitude by officials toward the athletic program and the rebuilding of the school building destroyed by fire about a year ago. County Education Superintendent Huss said the situation is clearing up and normal attendance is hoped to resume soon. Plans to rebuild the school are ready pending rescue permission.
