Roy S. Dearstyne of North Carolina State College says poultry and egg prices will rise in 1941 due to smaller poultry stocks and higher consumer buying power from the defense program. He notes cold storage stocks were up 25 percent on December 1 from a year earlier, but chick production this year remains lower. Economists expect first half 1941 chicken meat to be 4–5 percent lower than 1940, while incomes rise and demand strengthens. Projections include higher egg prices and more chick production in 1941.
