Two Seek Dismissal Of Tax Indictments
Judge Johnson in Middle District set Jan 15 for ruling on dismissing income tax evasion indictments against Darrell Clark of Badin and T G Briggs of Lexington. Attorneys argued the men embezzled about 141000 dollars from Lina Aluminum Co from 1946 to 1949, claiming money not subject to taxation. The defense contends the scheme involved doubtful character and that Clark merely failed to account for excess proceeds. The government maintains the case is clear and that the men evaded taxes by misreporting amounts due.
