Bus Industry Tests Employee Transit Pass Program
The 10 ride passes cost employers 2.75 and were resold to employees for 1. The program boosted commuting by bus during the gasoline shortage, though returning gas plenty makes it harder to shift drivers from cars. Surveys show gas at a dollar per gallon might drive mass transit adoption. Holt notes riders like the new equipment once aboard, but garage fire last summer left the system in cramped leased space awaiting a new facility with indoor wash bays.
