New Test For Tuberculosis Planned For School Children
ASHBO R-O County school children will take part in a new TB testing program. County Health Director Dr W C Whims told the Randolph County Board of Commissioners that tests will be given to children in the fourth and seventh grades. He cited 92 percent of current TB cases traced to contact from years ago and noted many carriers may never develop the disease. Those with positive results would receive TB serum. The county TB association has spent about 300 on equipment and seeks more health inspectors to handle growth linked to septic tank installs. He urged issuance of signed home builder statements on septic tank compliance and noted wells and surface waters may relate to rising typhoid cases.
