Citizens Bank of Elk Park paid depositors 17484.42 in 22 percent dividends and settled 6365.40 in full claims. Bank of Grifton paid 11711.18 of common claims and 15966.14 to others at 87 percent. Middlesex Bank paid nine percent to common creditors totaling 7709 while assets yielded 51662.77 and preferred and secured claims were paid in full. People's Bank and Trust of Selma paid 105,008.39 on 76 percent of money as assets 145,871.95 were realized. preferred and secured claims paid in full.
Thomas Morrison III, scion of a Pittsburgh family, will face recorder's court in Carthage Monday over the death of John Hewitt in an auto crash near Southern Pines. A coroner's jury found Hewitt was killed by Morrison’s automobile, driven at an excessive speed, and bound Morrison over on $200 bond.
