Three Farmers Arrested In Extortion Plot Near Edenton
Federal state and local officers arrested three Washington County farmers in Pea Ridge near Edenton for an extortion scheme. William Tarkenton 25 faces federal charges for extortion. Thomas Tarkenton 21 and Fred Tyson Jr. 21 are charged with aiding him. The FBI said two letters mailed December 25 demanded 2500 from each widow Mrs. Irene Dunbar and Mrs. Cedric Davenport under threat to kill their daughters.
