High Point VFW Opposes Major Hoover Report Changes
High Point VFW Post 619 voted against key Hoover Commission recommendations on the Veterans Administration. A.C. Ingram cited four points: moving VA hospitals to independent admin, transferring the GI Home Loan program to FHA, consolidating insurance into a Veterans Life Insurance Corp, and ending veterans preference in federal jobs. He warned of higher loan rates and chaotic administration. Joe V. Gallen compared VA efficiency now to the 1920s, and post commander Earl Pope summarized past year’s work.
