Guilford Doctors Press Legislative Program and Talks
Guilford County doctors urged lawmakers to shorten the statute of limitations for malpractice to one year, repeal the $25 physician license tax, improve medical bill collection, modify marriage certificate laws, and permit sale of certain narcotics only by prescription. Dr. McBrayer argued charity care and high tax burden justify repeal, while noting Guilford physicians donate substantial charity yearly. Legislators from Raleigh and others listened as the medical society presented its proposals at a King Cotton hotel dinner in Greensboro.
