Sealskins Worth Millions From Pribilof Fur Hunt of 1948
A 1948 Pribilof fur seal catch of 79,142 skins valued over 4 million dollars arrived in Seattle and was shipped to Fouke Fur in St Louis for processing. The process yields three types of finish named Safari Matara and black, with under-fur density of 300,000 fibers per square inch. Fur skins then go to New York Paris and Hollywood designers for coats and wearables.
