Wilmington faced a severe cold snap as snow began Saturday afternoon and continued until daybreak Sunday. Temperatures dipped to six degrees above zero, marking the harshest spell since February 1899.

Columbia S C Jan 2 two new meningitis cases and the death of Private Claude W Howard of the depot brigade were announced at divisional headquarters Camp Jackson There have been 39 deaths from meningitis at the camp recently according to base hospital records

Governor Bickett approves a mutual transfer of district courts. Judge Carter will hold the 11th district for Judge Justice, and Justice will oversee the 18th district for Judge Carter. Frank Daniels takes the 2nd district for Judge Werr and Kerr takes the 3rd for Judge Daniels.

Greensboro report confirms Charles Mulford Robinson, a city planning expert, died Sunday in Rochester New York after working on Greensboro projects. He had been engaged to plan improvements for Guilford Battleground and his Greensboro report remained unwritten.
Statesville Jan 2 J Lola Hill died Sunday at his home after a stroke of paralysis. He had been in ill health for years, suffered a second stroke that proved fatal. He was about 57, son of Prof J H Hill, survived by his wife nine children two brothers and a sister. Funeral at Clivehurch by Rev L Cathey of Scotts with interment at the church, first in its 25 year history.
