Hearst’s Pearl phase described by psychiatrists in trial
Three psychiatrists testified that Patricia Hearst spoke of a distinct persona named Pearl during her fugitive year and bank robbery trial. They described Pearl as part of her emotional journey through terrorist circles, a transformation that may illuminate her whereabouts in the missing year. Hearst invoked the fifth amendment 42 times when asked about Sacramento. Authorities had linked Hearst to a Sacramento bank robbery and her former boyfriend Steven Soliah faced indictment in the case.
