Ring Promoters Vie For Fight TV Plum

Sixteen promoters vied for a Monday night fight TV plum after the State Athletic Commission revoked the licenses of London Sporting Club president Tex Sullivan and former treasurer Willie Gilzenberg, imposing $5,000 fines each. Sullivan and Gilzenberg, veterans of boxing publicity and promotion, faced eight upheld charges from the commission with one dismissed for lack of sufficient evidence. The action, effective March 6, targets the London S C and its leaders who have promoted 93 straight Monday night cards on DuMont network. The promoters plan court stays while appealing.
