Senator Alton A. Lennon said he will confer with Senator George of Georgia about reintroducing a vote on the George proposal to limit treaty making by the President. The measure, a Bricker amendment substitute, was defeated by one vote in the Senate. Lennon called George the conscience of the Senate and urged reconsideration to constrain executive power. He outlined tax reform, farm parity, veteran rights, and anti communism as priorities, and defended his Jeffersonian Democratic stance.
