Eleven Die in Moscow Rossiya Hotel Fire

Soviet officials identified at least eleven dead from the Friday night blaze at Moscow's Rossiya Hotel with around twenty more bodies reportedly unidentified. The 3,200 room hotel suffered heavy damage to the north wing and central tower as repair crews battled the remnants of the fire amid a sleet storm. About one hundred people were listed as injured, most non Western guests. Western diplomats noted no Americans or West Europeans among the dead. Russian TV avoided coverage and one city paper buried the report in its last pages.
