Washington February 27 Hugh 8 Johnson unveils a 12 point plan to revise existing codes and expand the blue eagle campaign. He promises public hearings and uniform rules on prices wages hours and area classifications aimed at preventing price cutting monopolies and protecting small businesses.
At the Akron Pittsburgh line a train plunged from tracks injuring many. Nine victims recovered, 25 hospitalized. Engineer and fireman missing. Bodies identified include F R Dravo and David A Ducharme. Cranes clear wreckage as officials call the cause a mystery.
After a historic sleet storm High Point faced widespread outages with over a million dollars in damage. Power and telephone lines lay ruined while 50 emergency workers stringed fallen wires and schools closed for two days.
Austria trembles over near deadline on Dollfuss as Nazi pressure grows. Reports of troop buildup on the Austro German frontier clash with denials while Habicht presses Dollfuss to join Nazis in government and Austrian Nazis seek time to reorganize.
