Drive Launched To Increase Welfare Superintendents
Raleigh February 26 The division of county organization of the State Board of Charities and Public Welfare is launching a drive to increase the number of county public welfare superintendents. Miss Dosher director of the division said efforts aim to provide full time welfare officers in counties when county lines are drawn up in June. The State Board of Education will match county funds with state funds on a graduated scale based on population to subsidize welfare work. The 1931 legislature provided maintenance for the ten month school term and required state compensation for county welfare officials responsible for enforcing the school attendance law and their duties.
