Raleigh February 24 A Senate bill would roll back truck weights to pre 1949 limits with stiffer penalties for violations, sparking debate on highway deterioration. The Powell bill backed by the League of Municipalities would add about 4.5 million dollars to city street funding and press the highway commission to take over city streets in the highway network.

Last two Florentine survivors rescued after lifeboat ordeal
